Comparing tandem skydive aerial records

Handy camera

handy camera
The camera with a high visual angle (0,25) is on the tandem pilot’s arm, in a special glove. This is a new method, already widespread abroad and becoming more and more popular in Hungary as well, because it has three serious advantages compared to shooting with the help of an "outside aerial camera operator":
  • Your face stays visible during all the free fall, while the complete landscape, the clouds, and even the airplane are visible after leaving the aircraft.

  • The camera stays with us after deploying the chute as opposed to the aerial camera operator who reaches the ground with his own chute and cannot therefore record the flight with the tandem chute. This means that the tandem pilot records the most important moments of the descent, which makes the DVD two minutes longer and you will have a more complete picture of your jump.

  • As you don't need to pay a third person (the aerial operator), your jump and DVD will be considerably cheaper.

Outside aerial camera operator

freefall camera
In this case a third jumper, the aerial camera operator accompanies us with a camera on his helmet. The aerial camera operator’s record is basically the same as the tandem pilot’s handy camera record until leaving the aircraft, but as he films from about 1,5-2 meters during free fall, a bit more of the landscape and less of you can be seen. You can watch your jump much more from the point of view of an outside observer.

Its great disadvantage is that the aerial operator cannot record the parachute descent after we have opened the chute, only when reaching the ground.
